Let's see, what are we dealing with now? Well, there is the Jobs Bill that is hitting a brick wall in Congress. Oh, did we honestly think the Republicans were going to keep rolling over and taking it in the rear? Come on now people, even the GOP has limits to the amount of crap they are going to take. So the Jobs Bill has hit a major partisan stall, and it is not likely that this bill will be pushed through the way that the Health Care Reform Bill was. Now in fairness, Congress did authorize to extend unemployment benefits in the mean time, but we all know how the whole unemployment thing works. So, the reigns of joblessnes slipped out of the hands of the coach driver, and neither Republican, nor Democrat is willing to grab at it right now.
What of the Financial Oversight Bill? You know the one, it is the bill that would impose massive fines and penalties on the Mega-Banking Institutions that are failing and causing a massive impact on the economy. News Flash? Ever wondered how so many people in Congress were elected in the first place? Takes money to get elected. Hint, Hint, Hint. So, did we really expect the Republicans to sit idly by while the butter for their bread was being taken away? If you did, then you are a far bigger fool than I am giving you credit for being. Many of the Republicans, and indeed some of the Democrats in Congress have ties to these major lending institutions. Most of these elected officials worked for these major lending institutions at some point or another in their life time. With that thought in mind, you can best believe that the Republicans forcing the White House to rem ove the $50 Billion Dollar Penalty Clause from the Financial Oversight Bill is more so for self preservation than it is to benefit the masses who fall prey to these institutions on a daily basis. Hey, Capitalism is an awesome thing, as long as you are the head and not the tail.
About the only Republican to show any kind of real initiative this week is Florida Governor Charlie Christ, who elected to exercise the power of the veto o State Senate Bill 6, which based a teacher's compensation on the performance of his or her students based on a single standardized test. Funny, I thought we are trying to get rid of the Freaking Crazy Anal Test (FCAT) that has been the bane of many school kids in the state of Florida for years. Anyway, because of his actions, Charlie Christ is receiving flack from his party, the Republicans. He is receiving so much flack that Charlie Christ is considering "Turning Coats" and changing his affiliation to Democrat. Wild isn't it? The Republicans eat their own.
Speaking of not being able to make up one's mind about what side of the fence to play on; will someone please tell me what in the heck Sarah Palin is calling herself doing? She is acting more so like a rebel without a clue. She is Republican, but she does not have sufficient clout to mount her own campaign and produce any king of real and tangible success, so she grabs to coat tails of the Tea Party, and becomes their mouth piece instead. Ground Control To Tea Party---Jettison the No Load As Quickly As Possible Before It Explodes And Takes Your Ship With It. Come on now, can Sarah Palin even spell Karl Marx? I mean really, take the breast off of her and dye her hair grey and you've got George W. Bush in a different wrapper. We are talking about a lady who did not understand that a body of water separates her state from what was the Soviet Union. This is the woman who thought she could ride her bike to Moscow. Let's get real p eople. Have you honestly listened to this woman talk? The lips are flapping, but there is not much brain activity to filter what is coming out of her mouth. She is trying to position herself as the GOP Front-runner to take on Barack Obama in 2012? Assuming the world will still be around in 2012, the GOP's best bet would be to position Newt Gengrich to take on Barack Obama, if the GOP is really serious about recapturing the White House. If they are not, then let their Pit Bull continue to bark, eventually like all dogs, she will tire out and just go to sleep.
So where do we stand America? Well, here is the bottom line; the Democrats were presented with an excellent opportunity on January 20, 2009. That opportunity was being positioned with enough leverage to effectively drive discussions in Congress and get things done in a bipartisan way. Instead of working to build strong relationship across the isle, the Democrats adopted a "My Way or The Highway" approach , and as a result drove a wedge deeper into the already strained relationship between the parties. Now the Republicans are operating in "Get Back" mode and looking to fill as many seat as possible with GOP Candidates during this upcoming mid-term election cycle. The ultimate goal is to strong arm the White House in 2012, and thus shifting America back into the old status que. Every politician, even Barack Obamaa, claims that they stand by the methodology of Ronald Reagan, but I have yet to see it. Ronald Reagan, being a Republican, realized that he needed Congress on his side. At the time of his first election, the Democrats had the Congressional Majority. Reagan's primary order of business was in reaching out to members of the Democratic Party and bridging the gap. The result was nothing short of amazing. Reagan fired the striking Air Traffic Controllers, and the Democrats stood with him because they believed in him. Reagan was able to secure funds to support militar y efforts in Grenada, Lebanon, South America, and the Persian Gulf because of his influence and reputation for giving each party what they wanted. Ronald Reagan was the epitome of public service. The politicians of our present day pale when compared to Reagan. What our nation needs is another incarnation of Ronald Reagan. We need a politician who will draw both sides of the isles together, and unify America. Frankly speaking, I am sick and tired of the political back stabbing that we have been made to witness over the past 20 years. Let's get it right America.
