He Can Do Bad All By Himself

Well America, so what is happening in politics today? Let's see, the Republicans are hot and cold on Financial Reform. No big surprise there. Chelsea Clinton is getting married. In the words of Mr. T, I pity the fool. President Obama pulls Immigration Reform off the table. As if we did not see that coming. After all, the GOP was saying that he (President Obama) could have his choice of either Immigration Reform or Financial Reform, but he could not have both. I'm waiting for the President to grab his nuts and pimp slap the GOP. Shoot, Ronald Reagan would have done it.

Perhaps the biggest shock in the world of American Politics is Florida Governor Charlie Christ flipping off the GOP by switching over to run for the US Senate as an Independent. Well, it was not much of a surprise to me. In fact, I wondered what too him so long to finally take that leap of faith.  Now that he has, I am very proud of Governor Christ.

Oh, I can feel all of the long faces, and the evil stares now. I am also hear the mumbling, some calling me a liberal for my statements. To each his own, I am who I am, and I know who I am, if you can't stand who I am, then I don't give a damn.  I speak my mind, and if it offends some people, I make not apologies.

Look here America, it is no secret that Charlie Christ fell out of love with the Republican Party some years ago. Even when he was the Florida Attorney General, Charlie Christ ruffled feathers in the GOP. In many regards, Charlie Christ is not much different from Joseph Liberman, who became disenchanted with the Democratic Party when he and Al Gore were attempting to run for the White House. Although Charlie Christ has conservative values, he is also a man of wisdom, and is not afraid to rub against the grain. You know, the kind of Republican that John Mc Cain used to be, before Darth Sarah pushed him to the Dark Side.

Perhaps the final stray for Charlie Christ what in the reaction that the GOP had to his decision to veto State Senate Bill 6. I think you know this bill. It is the one that would have determined a teachers merit based on their student's performance on a single standardized test. Passing such a bill would have been irresponsible, and Charlie Christ knew that all to well. Seems the GOP did not share the same values as Charlie Christ, and they promised that he would not have an east time in the race for US Senate.  Unless I missed my guess, did not the O'Jays have a song about those kind of people? What They Do?

So, here is the bottom line America; people join political parties for the support of the affiliation. I am certain that Charlie Christ initially felt that the GOP was the best vehicle to a long and prosperous political career. In the end, he discover that his party is nothing more than a group of political back stabbers who are hell bent on their own personal agendas. It is that kind of thinking that is seeding the demise of the GOP, and has placed the party on the Political Endangered Species list. Charlie Christ did the smart thing. He jumped off of a sinking ship, and left the rest of the rats to go down with it. Charlie Christ also avoided the muck and the mire that is the Democratic Party at this moment. In the long run, and only if he is true to his choice, Charlie Christ will find that his best move was to become an Independent. Charlie is not the type of person who believes in letting other define who he is.
