It is a fight unlike any that has ever been experienced in the history of America.
Racial and gender biased slurs are being hurled in all directions. Nasty pictures are surfacing. The media is being used to stab each participant in the back. Lies are circulating like the rising California air currents during Santa Ana season, and the worst part of it all is this fight is occurring within the Democratic Party. The Democrats still have yet to encounter the Republicans.
No one will discount the fact that this race for the White House is extremely critical;however, what is the overall cost to the Democrats? After all, the credibility of both candidates has come under intense scrutiny, so much to the fact that neither Clinton nor Obama may be able to stand against McCain in the general election.
This election cycle has led to an ugly series of infighting within the ranks of the Democratic Party. Indeed, a truly nasty detraction that may serve to the benefit of the Republican Party in the general election. This is not to mention that the Republican Party has enlisted some of it operatives to vote in the Democratic primaries in an attempt to slant the nomination in a certain direction. We can call this action "Cybergate", for it is truly the Internet incarnation of "Watergate".
Where is the Democratic Party going wrong? The answer is not as easy as it may appear. First, the Democratic Party is so eager to beat the Republicans that they are overlooking the fundamental signals of a possible conspiracy. Secondly, the Democratic Party is allowing itself to get wrapped up in race and gender. Forget the fact that Hillary Clinton is an American Female, and forget the fact that Barack Obama is an African American. Both candidates have one quality in common, that being the fact that they are both "Americans", and that should be the only moniker that matters.
Bottom line is this, if the Democratic Party is to be successful in the general election, the Democratic Party must cease the internal sniping at one another and pull together as a party with its focus on one goal, that goal being what is right for this country. Should the Democratic Party fail to accomplish that simple objective, America will suffer another four years at the hands of the Republicans.
America cannot handle another four years of Republican leadership. America is on the brink of a recession, and total financial collapse. Four more years of Republican leadership will place the proverbial nail into our nation's coffin.
