America At The Crossroads

February 5th 2008 promises to be a date that may reside in infamy. Super Tuesday, the date where several states hold their respective primaries. What a heated set of primaries they promise to be.

We now know that the Republican playing field has been reduced to four viable options, those being John McCain, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, and Ron Paul (although I can not understand for the life of me why he is still clinging onto hope at this point).

We also know that the Democratic playing field has been reduced to two, those being Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton. With Edwards dropping from the race, it has become a slug fest between Clinton and Obama. The only question remaining is how will Edwards dropping from the race affect the outcome of the Democratic primaries yet to be held?

With the exception of Ron Paul, the Republican slate looks fairly typical. Middle aged, wealth Caucasian men, that usual status quo which had become the ear mark of the Grand Old Party. The Democrats, however, are presenting an extremely unique slate. Two minorities taking on the white establishment of the GOP. Although Hillary Clinton is Caucasian, she is still classified as a minority by the current standards in American society.

America is faced with an interesting challenge. Here, most Americans are fed up with the mismanagement of our nation at the hands of the Bush Administration, so much so that even hardened Republicans are bending an ear in the direction of the Democratic message. The problem with that is many people in America tend to be unwilling to take a step out on faith, and place their trust in the hands of either a young idealistic African American male, or even a Caucasian female for that matter. This is a direct result of our nation being mislead by the rhetoric of what had initially been identified as the white ruling class in America. Remember these were the same people who created the conditions that compelled women and blacks to fight for their rights to vote and be treated equally in America, you know, rights which were guaranteed by the Constitution of The United States, but twisted to fit the needs of wealth white men instead?

Super Tuesday will be a defining point in the history of America, for it will help to clear up the picture, and set the playing field for the National Elections in November 2008. Considering the current level of dissatisfaction with the GOP as a direct result of eight years of ignorance with the Bush Administration, it is extremely likely that the National Elections will yield America's first minority president; indeed, a presidency who's time has come as it has been long overdue.

There will be a lot of mudslinging, as well as activity by white extremist groups and other racially motivated factions the closer we get to the National Elections. There will be attempts by some to scare young, and minority voters away from performing their Constitutionally Guaranteed right to cast their vote. I am fairly confident that there may even be some of the same Bush Brothers brand of ballot manipulation as we had experienced in 2000.

Bottom line people is simple, do not allow anyone, and I do not care who they say they are, but do not allow anyone to deter you from voting on February 5th, and during the National Elections in November. This country belongs to the people, not to the Klan, Skinheads, Bonesmen, or any other manipulative faction of society. Remember, it matters not if the person is White, Black, Male, or Female. What matters is that you vote your heart for the person you trust. Your vote counts, so just be sure that you get out there and you vote. America is at a crossroads, your vote may be the one that gets us going in the right, pardon me, in the CORRECT direction (the RIGHT has been the wrong direction for the past eight years).
