Jesse Jackson's Endorsement Of Obama

 

There was a recent article on Black Voices which spoke of Jesse Jackson endorsing Barack Obama, an action that I feel is good. True to form with these Interner forums, there are those who elect to leave comments. I wanted to address a few of those comments in particular, like this one from:

Clarice, who writes:
1. Jesse Jackson has lost his right to speak for black people a long time ago. He's a snake in sheep's clothing. He should strip REV. from his name, find a dark corner to crawl into and just fade away. Black people are tired of him and not interested in anything he has to say.

--Wow, must be a long lost baby momma or something. Or how about:

Robert Simmons, who writes:
2. Jesse Jackson is irrelevant to today's politics. He became obsolete to many black folks several years ago. I'm not sure why you wasted space and time interviewing him. There are so many young and relevant folks to talk with today. Next time, try talking to someone who has a voice that we want to listen to...thank you

--Hum, interesting. I guess P Diddy is more credible than Jesse. But hey, what about my favorite:

Daniel Walton (name even sounds white), who writes:

JESSE JACKSON WORD MEANS NOTHING, IF HE WAS SO CONCERN ABOUT THE AFRICAN AMERICAN PEOPLE HIS FOCUS WOULD HAVE BEEN TO REMOVE THE PROBLEM WHERE THEY HAVE TO GO BACK IN FROM THE BOARD TO DECIDE IF WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE EVERY SO MANY YEARS THAT SHOULD BE HIS FOCUS AND HE IS JUST FULL OF IT AND ON THE SAME PAGE AS THE REST OF THE REPUBLICANS, WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE.

Now, Is it just me, or are there a bunch of White People acting like they are Black People, and posting in the Black Voices forum?

White America is running scared that a Black Man just might win the Democratic Nomination and they want to do everything in their tiny little bit of power to stop it. So they come into an all Black forum, and post negative remarks about a Civil Rights Icon.

I grew up a few block from the Jacksons in Washington DC. Jesse Jr. and I used to play street football in our younger days. Sure, Jesse has his faults, as do many people in this country, but he still has a voice, and that voice is protected by the Constitution just like everyone else.

White America needs to wake up, because a new dawn is coming, and all of their ploys are going to backfire. I applaud Jesse Jackson for endorsing Obama, as I applaud every one who endorses Obama.

As for White, Conservative, "We are so afraid of change" America, Keep Your Negative Emails, and Worthless Comments to yourself. You had eight years of your Good Ole Boy fornicating America, now let's get a real leader in the White House.

Bottom line people is "If you stand for nothing, you will fall for everything". Stop falling for the lies of White America and stand behind those who have made a difference in African America.
